Teaching Writing to Adult English Language Learners (ESOL Standards)

Description: The goal of this workshop is to increase skills in teaching the process of writing based on promising practices in ESOL. Target audience: new and experienced teachers, tutors, and classroom aides of adult English language learners.

In this workshop we will:

• Describe the steps of the writing process.
• Develop teaching activities for each step in the writing process.
• Identify appropriate error-correction interventions.

Important Note: In order to attend this workshop, you will be asked to complete an on-line overview of Virginia's Adult ESOL Content Standards. Some of you have already done so or completed it in order to attend the Teaching Reading workshop held earlier this year. Others will need to do this before the workshop.
