Editorial Guidelines

Progress articles are usually 1-2 pages, or about 500-800 words. (Letters to the editor should be shorter, ideally less than 250 words.)

Progress readers are teachers, program managers, volunteers, support staff, and others with an interest in adult education. Articles should be written for an audience of practitioners.

Progress reserves the right to decline publication. Considerations include, but are not limited to:

  • space available in a given issue,
  • relevance to the issue theme,
  • basis in research or other evidence,
  • consistency with Virginia standards and policy,
  • clear application to adult education practice, and
  • adept use of English style and conventions.

Queries and proposals are welcome by phone or email. Articles should be submitted via email to hmajor@vcu.edu.

All accepted submissions will be edited.

For more information, contact Hillary Major at the Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center.
