Teacher Feature

Editorial Guidelines

Nominate a colleague for the

Progress “Teacher Feature”

Progress is looking to include more stories about working teachers in the field of adult education. Do you know a teacher who is doing inspiring, exemplary work? If so, please let us know!

Nominees for the “Teacher Feature” could excel in a variety of ways. They may be instructors:

  • whose students regularly meet learning and life goals,
  • who have a strong track record of student retention,
  • who work with colleagues, partners, and learners in creative ways,
  • who demonstrate leadership in lesson planning, curriculum writing, implementing content standards, or incorporating technology,
  • who keep up with current education research and incorporate promising practices into their teaching, and
  • who are continually working to improve their instruction.

To nominate a colleague, please send an email to Hillary Major at the Resource Center with the following information:

  • Your name, position, and program
  • Nominee’s name, position, and program
  • Why the nominee should be featured in Progress
  • A brief description of one specific achievement by the nominee
  • What Progress readers might learn from the nominee’s example

Please understand that, while we welcome nominations year-round, we can publish stories about only a few of the excellent instructors around Virginia.
