As Program Development Specialist for VALRC, Jim works on professional development projects addressing content standards, ABE/GED instruction, technology, assessment, program improvement and other topics of current interest. He began his career in adult education teaching basic skills, computer classes, and math and measurement at the Employee Development Center at Philip Morris. Soon afterward, he joined the staff at the Henrico County Adult Education Center as an ABE/GED teacher and counselor before becoming Department Chair and Assistant Administrator. During his tenure with Henrico, he traveled part-time throughout Virginia delivering GED Connection and Workplace Essential Skills workshops for VALRC.
Jim holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Virginia Tech and a Master of Teaching in English Education and an Educational Leadership Certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University.
